A blob? Okay: I take my wooden spoon and scoop up some. Okay, okay: I would guess three tablespoons. I was pretty liberal with buttering the dish, too. I don't suppose you actually *need* all that I used, but I do hate badly browned onions, and sticky dishes. :)
