Exciting new exciting thing

For my birthday, my Mom gave me a new computer. It is so damn shiny and spiffy and neato keen that I may never go to sleep again. It is faster, which is lovely.

I am so ignorant any more about how much this and how many that and which magic chip and all the general other Boffo stuff, that all I can really say is that it has a *really* big monitor. I watched the original Star Trek in black and white on a smaller screen that this. But truly - all the Boffo stuff? It's got it.

In other news: I may never get vaccinated. My 83 year old Mom still hasn't had her first shot.

The man who invented the Linux kernal (which pretty much powers the entire internet and a large chunk of devices) once said that the only thing he looks for in a computer is that it make absolutely no noise. He said if the cat jumps on his lap while he is working, he wants to hear the cat purr and not the fan on the machine. I've always thought that was lovely considering what he has done for the computer universe and thus our own everyday lives.

Ooooow! New computer!!
Shots. We are SO fortunate here in Mendocino County that we have a hospital and a health department that is very "with it" Wish you could brin your Mom here, they would vaccinate her in seconds. On your shiny new computer see if you can look up local vaccination "mass vaccination" areas and get on the list to be notified of events. This could mean that you sign up for multiple notification sites. Here it is the hospital, county health services, your health provider and one more that I can't remember, probably state. You sign up for each notification site and then, when you get a notification, register for a time. Here it requires you to check your email or text messages regularly.

That sounds delightful. Linus is right, who wants to hear their computer?

Ahh, dear Linus Torvalds. I think he will go down in history as one of the greats of all history.
