Also: part the 22/7

I missed saying that Trudeau stopped the Emergency Act, which left the senate in mid-debate and useless.

I agree with Dewline regarding the timing of the Ottawa Occupation and Putin's Mass Murder Move. Such a coinkydinky.

I think Trudeau's actions are meant to be a point for meditation: wait too long to act when the Putins come to the door and they are going to get intrenched. The old giving an inch and losing a mile adage. And: debating on decisive action before you decisively act will hinder the process of acting.

And: financial tools are good tools. Hacking also.

I heard today that someone hacked the Russian PR system - so that is probably more worrying than any stiffling of fellow oligarchs. Who is likely to be the most worrisome competitors for Putin? Oh, probably his oligarchy buddies, so anything that takes them down a peg without being attributable to his direct action is probably welcome. But messing with his Conquistador tools probably hurts.

However, this is one of the strengths/weaknesses of consensus-seeking groups: factions act randomly and as they please. A strength is that it is difficult to predict or find out by spying, since nobody is in charge giving orders. A weakness is that it is difficult to build on each others efforts.

Aside: if I hear anymore beseechments for thoughts and prayers I am going to become *very* sarcastic.

I wonder how much Umair Haque's analysis is correct.
