Mom is going to go *bonkers*

Y'know? This one-thing-after-another theme is getting old.

Sunday night, Mom fell in her home, and broke ... her left shoulder. We went to the emergency, and fortunately for us, not only was the emergency open, but they seemed to be reasonably well-staffed.

Mom doesn't need surgery, so that's good. However, the "cast" she is using is a cobbled-together sling made by the nurses who had to google how to do it. The purpose of the sling it to support some of the weight of the forearm, while still allowing the upper arm to hang straight down, with a teeny bit of tension. This will allow the pieces to knit together.

Lots of pain for the first week, then it should reduce. Mom can hardly do anything. The shoulder is very firm about not allowing the left hand to be used.

This will drive Mom wild. She's active, and busy all the time, and enforced lounging is going to sear her circuits.

Well, poot.

They had to google it? I would think broken shoulders would be one of the more common things emergency rooms see.

Oh no. I hope she recovers swiftly.
