gool_duck says that I can use that I can use the following phrase <lj user="ruthi"> and it will make the link.  esmeraldusalso says that I can use the link-o-matic above, and it will create the link.  Which it did for ruthi just fine, but has turned esmeraldus into a podcast or vacuum tube or something.  Ah.  It is because I didn't have the name correct - it should be esmeraldus_neo - okay that worked.  Yet, yesterday, when I attemped to do James Nicoll, it was recalcitrant - yup, did it again; says there is no such user.  Oh...duh.  It's because there is an underscore between the names, yes/no?  Let's see: james_nicollis on the list - yup, that worked.  So, why, when I cut and pasted the livejournal link for James Nicoll yesterday from desperancedid it bring along unsightly dangly bits?  Here, let's try it again:  james_nicoll: .  Yup, the pre-debris is there again.  All righty then, we will just learn to spell the names right and then use the link-o-matic.

EDIT - so I suspect I should be in html mode for ruthi's code to work.  Later.  We will savour our victories where we find them. 

NEXT EDIT - I can't seem to enter spaces after the link-o-matic icon.  In the draft there are several spaces after some of the links, but the next word shows as cuddled up snuggly-wuggly to the link.  I shall conquer this foe later.

EDIT 07Sept07 - It always amazes me how long it takes me to see the boo-boos in my own work.  Only today do I see that I have duplicated the phrase "that I can use" in the first ten words of this entry.  Ah-mazing.

Heh, I'm mainly saying they're both me, but the shorter one is a slightly different journal, and everything there will also be at the one with the longer name.
