Travel - not my thing.

agoodwinsmithSo. We went to Radium, then to Calgary, then to Okotoks, then to Canmore, then to Fairmont, then to home.
What with a CPAP, water for the CPAP, a stool to help me climb into bed, a walker for tough bits, an tub mat so I won't fall down in the tub (assuming I can climb into it), some clothes, and all my meds, lugging all that crap in and out of hotels every day is too much.
My mother is a very restless person. She and Dad used to travel a lot - and they loved it, and I loved that they loved it. I like my home. I like my comforts, and that I have things arranged so that I don't have to face my inability to do things every time I want to do things. Example: I'm short. I have a shallow bed. I can get in and out of bed at any moment. I can use the bed to put on socks and similar. The current fashion of hotel beds that are so high that even with my fancy stool with a steadying handle, getting into these beds hurts my knees and freaks me out. Bathtubs are similarly high. My tub has bars so that I can hang on and be not afraid. I also use a tub mat because bath tub bottoms are slick like a very slick malevolent thing.
And I have cats at home.
So. We got to see some family, and that is always nice. And we saw some interesting places: the Rockies are worth seeing a lot, in lots of parts of the Rockies. The hot springs (Radium, Fairmont) are excellent. Sinclair Canyon is worth the trip, and blah blah blah.
My lack of mobility is chaffing for my Mom. She wants to go and do and see and etc. My Mom doesn't give me a hard time, or express impatience, or anything like that. She is just naturally restless and needs constant external activity.
And I haven't even talked about the steady restaurant food and the digestive disturbance. Ugh.
I am so glad to be home.
