We have had the most beautiful sustained downpour, and the day looks like there will be several more extended showers. It smells so good, and the cool air is very welcome.

So we had lots of cold and lots of fluffy snow.

We are now having above freezing temps and rain. Apparently the freezing level is going all the way up above the summits, so there will be snow melt as well as rain. Much worries about mudslides, washouts, and general highway doom. It is definitely gloppy here.

We have been having a lot of precipitation - and it has all been rain so far. I am so grateful because in previous years it has been snow. This much rain would have been serious heaps. I am so grateful it is rain. I like the sound of rain on the roof, and the sound of rain running down the drain pipes from the gutter, and the sound of wet tires on wet pavement. Yay rain.

I know today's rain is supposed to come wrapped in a thunderstorm with lightning, but by gummy the sound of rain is fantastic.

Suzi is racing from one end of the house to the other and back, which is usually a call for an enthusiastic storm - but the sound of rain - mmmm.

Huzzah!  we are having actual, pounding on the skylight[1] rain rain rain.  Yay!

Previous rain was another tease - it only qualified as a T[2] on the record.  *This* is going to qualify for millimetres - with emphasis on the multiples of.  Yay!

[1] - I have a skylight at work, although I don't have a window.  Considering that some people have neither, I am very happy with my skylight.
[2] - Trace.  Considering that they measure to a tenth of a millimetre, a Trace is hardly enough to even sneer at.

I was just checking here:
http://www.climate.weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/climateData/dailydata_e.html

and the last time we had rain was 26 May 2009, and before that was 13 May 2009.  They weren't big falls, and they were isolated days.  May shows 11 days of ran, including three days of less than a millimeter.  And April only includes 10 days of rain, including four days of less than a millimeter.  June has no days so far.  Hah.  Things are really really dry.
