Results under the cut with any luck.

The Wit )

Well, at least I got most of the stuff under the cut.

  • *le sigh*

Compared to other takers

  • 63/100 You scored 52% on darkness, higher than 63% of your peers.

I was hoping for The Cutting Edge, but at least I was not The Ham.

If you wish to play, post a picture of the street where you live.

That is standing on the South side of the street, facing East.  The building is the one I live in, and the tree is in the vacant lot (currently) used as a parking lot, and dates from the time when this was a la di da residential part of town.  Our neighbourhood is wistfully named Strathcona.

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

* I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
* What I create will be just for you.
* It'll be done this year. - But you may have to wait a while...
* You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be a story. It may be poetry. I may draw or paint something. I may bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure! I may or may not ask your opinion on sizes, colors, allergies, etc. I have no desire for a gift from you in return.
* I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

Respondents must re-post this on their own journals. (So says the rules, but it's OK with me if you don't).

I was a little (!) late getting this post up - though damn nippy off the mark getting my request into the first person I read who had done the meme.  Eat ma dust, sorta fing.

First, the happy: today was the last day of work for me until 05 January 2009.  What's not to be happy about that?

Next, the photos.  We've been having very uncharacteristly cold weather here in Lotusland.  Not that we never have freezing weather, and not that we never have snow, but we usally do not get extended cold combined with snow.  Snow falls, causes havoc for 12 hours, and then has the decency to melt.  This time it snowed, melted a sniff, snowed some more, and then has been below zero for around a week.  Today was minus 7 celcius and it was bloody cold.  I've lived on the prairies (okay, not for long, but still), and this feels colder than minus 18 celcius.  I think it is the insidious moisture that penetrates every layer of clothing down to your skin, giving the cold a freeway straight to your shrinking flesh  Brrr.

So anyways.  Early in November I took you on the walk into Granville Island here:
http://agoodwinsmith.livejournal.com/62332.html#cutid1

Here is the same walk yesterday:

Frozen walk into Granville Island. )

 Brr even.

And now on the footbridge looking across the pond that has no geese or ducks at this time - they know it ain't gonna melt.

Frozen walk into Granville Island. )

We have been threatened with more snow, and no change in temperatures.  Chilly chilly chilly.

EDIT - again, I am creating one cut with everything in it.  I dunno what lj is doing, but it can bloody well stop it.  If I had made more than one lj cut - I would at least have thought of more original names.  Humph.

EDIT EDIT - lj just does its own thing, sort of like a two year old.  Trying to get rid of excess spaces just caused some of the comments to fall outside of the cuts.  I ain't twiddling with it any more.

Found the idea we had for SOGP's mom - digital picture frame that can have the pictures loaded through the USB directly from the camera.  Yay - this means that when anyone visits her, and they have photos on their camera, they can download them straight away.  She's missing out on the pictures of her great-granddaughter because everyone is sending digital photos by email.  I'd really like to get SOGP's mom a laptop - but she is very firm about not wanting a computer.  *I* think if we can give her easy to use digital toys that give her something she wants, then she might change her mind.  Maybe not - but is sure beats another sweater for Christmas  - so: I'm happy.

I got a Magic 8 Ball!  Woo Hoo!  I've wanted one for ages, and there they were on the shelf.

We went out in the chilly crunchy world, had breakfast with our friend Catherine at the Cafe du Soleil, and finished our Solstice Lanterns.

Doing those made me happy.  Having them finished makes me happy.  Looking forward to using them next Sunday makes me happy.

Edit - I do not know why it is showing two lj cuts - I have only created one, and they both go to the same cut, although the top one takes you to the top of the cut, and the bottom one takes you to the bottom of the cut.  Weird.  Just weird.  But I'm so happy, I *sneer* in the face of lj weirdness.

... in which no users are harmed by tagging.

I am happy because it is Saturday, and I got to sleep in today, and the sun is shining brilliantly (even if the air is a bit crisp), and the little birds are out on the wall top eating Bob's Red Mill 10-grain cereal and singing their little hearts out.

Last Saturday was the National Portfolio Day at ECU, which I helped at.  No sleeping in.  Insane amounts of sugar-bombed adolescents running from room to room with their portfolios to find their line and then spending long hours waiting, while their sugar wears off, for their 10-minute turn.  I stood on cement all day, which is wearing.  Then the next day we went to the first of two workshops for the making of star lanterns (which we will carry in the Lantern Procession on the Solstice: http://www.secretlantern.org/ ).  Not much rest last weekend, and it took me most of the week to recuperate.  So - sleeping in without the need to rush off to something is pretty fine.

Besides which - my best and most refreshing sleep always happens between 5:00 am and 9:00 am - and weekdays I get up at 6:00 am.

... where people who thought themselves previously safe are tagged.  Mwaha.

I am happy because I am home in the warm with some beer.  It rained like a never-ending flood today.  I am at sea level, and the flakes fell but did not stick to anything except cold things like cars.  My SOGP drives all over the lower mainland picking up food donations, and he said that North Vancouver was a big gloppy snow/slush mess.  Wheee.  But I am in the warm and dry, with beer, so hey.  :)

Evil mwhahaha noises again.

Edit edit - I have no clue why those lj tails have shown up - and they'll probably disappear down the road somewhere and people will be wondering what I'm drivelling about - but by gum I'm happy.

I have been tagged by [livejournal.com profile] khitomer

The rules are that for 8 days you have to post something that made you happy that day.

Okay.  Today the sun shone and it was beautiful.  I went out for a walk at lunch and it was beautfiful.  Sunshine in winter makes me happy.

And now I tag the following to go and do the same:

[livejournal.com profile] ankhorite
[livejournal.com profile] cat63
[livejournal.com profile] ciciaye
[livejournal.com profile] daibhid_c
[livejournal.com profile] desperance
[livejournal.com profile] dsgood
[livejournal.com profile] jessie_c
[livejournal.com profile] moustachios

Go my little baa-lambs - be a happy meme sheep like me and spread the happy.   :)

Edit - got everybody highlighted - now people have fallen off.  Sigh.
Edit edit - everyone's back - but some have tails.  I give.  Go and be happy, dammit.

Nicked from [info]esmeraldus_neo  and  [info]daibhid_c  and [info]sloopjonb  .  Today is (probably) Geoffrey Chaucer's deathday, so come up with a quote.

And of course, what would I remember, but:

When April with his showers sweet with fruit
The drought of March has pierced unto the root
And bathed each vein with liquor that has power
To generate therein and sire the flower;
When Zephyr also has, with his sweet breath,
Quickened again, in every holt and heath,
The tender shoots and buds, and the young sun
Into the Ram one half his course has run,
And many little birds make melody
That sleep through all the night with open eye
(So Nature pricks them on to ramp and rage)-
Then do folk long to go on pilgrimage,

taken from the following link because, no, I have not memorized any Chaucer - pillow-boff me now.

EDIT - merciful heck - who knows why the livejournal entry page does the formatting things it does - not me.

Your result for The Which Discworld Character Am I Test ...

Susan Sto Helit

You scored 89 intelligence, 52 morality, and 55 physical strength!

As Death's granddaughter (a long story, which you greatly dislike), you inherited his ultimate practicality and lack of fear. In fact, boogeymen and other childhood boggles fear YOU. Often assisted by the Death of Rats and his raven, you manage to fix the Universe in between working as a governness and educating the masses. The ultimate teacher.
