Got the tinsel garland.

But it's in copper. Hmmm. The only other colour available was a gold so phony that it was as phony as a very phony thing.
I spent a lot longer shopping today because I had nearly an hour's bus ride between locations. It was mostly successful, I think. Some of what I am doing is scoping out the changes in particular areas that we haven't visited for a while and may have an eroneous idea of what is there.
This has been prompted by the sale of our favourite Sunday breakfast restaurant. The food hasn't changed yet, and the waitresses are still the same and nice people, but the new systems being forced on them are not supporting them in their role as waitresses. I think the new young men who have bought the place want it to be a hep place, but I think they need to either bite the bullet and change the joint, or leave it be. The changes they have made so far are unlikely to endear them to their desired clientele, and are starting to brown off the regulars. It takes longer for the food to reach the table, and it takes longer to pay the bill at the end. The floor is being left dirty thoughout the morning, and now that there are mega rolls of toilet paper in the washrooms, the washrooms are not cared for as frequently. All little brush-off-able things, but if the food changes or the staff changes, it just won't be worth the effort to employ the whisk.
We have a routine on Sunday, which the hit on our restaurant puts at risk. We bus up the hill on Hastings to Slocan Street. We breakfast at Slocan Restaurant. Walk down to the London Drugs at Kamloops Street for various tooth pasty and bus passy things. Then walk further down to Donalds Market at Nanaimo Street, where we do the majorithy of our food grocery shopping. Then catch a bus home. From door to door it can take as little as two hours, including the meal.
The London Drugs is already slated for demolition as they build a bigger building, with apartments and whatnot above. If the Slocan becomes untenable, then we will have to break our system. We really like Donald's Market, and would put up with a lot to continue to shop there, but we shall see.
Tomorrow I need to get fake veggie sausage patties so that I can make fake chestnut stuffing for our Christmas dinner. The stuffing is fake because it doesn't have real bacon in it (boo), and because it shall not be stuffed in anything but a casserole dish.
