Yes, the definition has been:

And my point is that treating someone like they are white is oppressive - the basic assumption is that someone is being rewarded for "passing". I think I am recognizing universal privileges but I am unconsciously making those privileges conditional upon the erasure of the person's "otherness". It boils down to: I'm comfortable; they are not.
