Gratitudiness

Hiho.
I have a new furnace.
I didn't want a new furnace; I quite liked the old furnace, but the old furnace was feeling its years and slowly failing. I am grateful for the slowly failing part, because I didn't actually even get cold - never mind lose plumbing to our incessant below zero (C) weather.
I am also grateful because the furnace installers were able to fit me in immediately, so that the old furnace retired gracefully, and the house only dropped to 60 F (15.5 C) while they removed and installed. Somebody came on Monday, tinkered enough to keep the old one running, and the new furnace was installed Wednesday (yesterday).
It is high-efficiency and snazzy. The thermostat practically has its own launch code.
One of the best things about the new furnace is that now I can buy conventional filters, and so change them. What I *had* was an odd thick version of scotch guard scrubbie fabric that had to be vaccuumed. (ew)
Another nice thing is that originally the furnace and AC were installed separately and had separate thermostats (this confused our house inspector when we bought), and now both are on the one new atomic age thermostat. I like it.
The best thing, of course, is that the girls and I are warm. (And the pipes are unfrozen.)
