So we had snow, then melting, and last night drumming rain on the roof - and tomorrow it is all gonna freeze solid.

My Telus landline is "fixed" - meaning that it works, but in a work around. The old wires under the trailer are kaput, and I suspect it is the horde of rodents that I know are down there - the crashing sometimes cannot be just one itsy bitsy mouse. There must be squirrels and possibly raccoons (I have seen no evidence of raccoons, but if I'm gonna have an infestation I at least want it to be cute), all nibbling and munching and kicking the wires around.

But on 02 February we get Imbolc and Groundhog Day, and this is celebrated because now there starts to be light in the evening. "Evening" has a very broad definition here, but still.

It sounds like the freeze will be on for around a week. In a few days I hope the residual moisture/ice skim will have been worn off the highway and I can travel to town if I want.

Oh yes. The girls have been escaping (Suzi escapes and Maggie considers her options) and while the dark of night is best, last night's chilly miserable rain had them both back to the door before it had closed. They both then had a snack and went to sleep with a very "Fine, Be That Way" attitude.
