I just realized that I hadn't actually posted in the new year. I don't really have anything to say, but hey.
Our pathetic little coward of a Prime Minister has prorogued parliament. *He* says it is because the Olymipics are on in another province a couple of thousand of miles away from Ottawa, and this will be just too disruptive for our frail flowers of political implacability to function and govern well. We all know it is because his horrible minions have perpetrated another abomination and he hopes we will have forgotten by March. Yep, he's closing parliament for three months because of a two-week event snarling up another city 4611 kilometers away (http://www.trailcanada.com/travel/in_canada/travel_distances/). Suuuuuure.
Apparently there is going to be a newspaper insert informing us denizens of Vancouver how to help visitors during the Olympics (http://www.kelowna.com/2010/01/06/vancouver-unveils-650000-worth-of-olympic-banners-around-city/). It is being sneered at as the Politeness Manual. Deary deary me. The VANOC committee could have used a politeness primer before they got started alienating every single person who isn't face first in the public trough profitting from the games. Hint: most of us.
It has been raining a lot, but I am very grateful for the rain. I remember the snow last year, and I wish to extend sympathy to every one who is currently struggling against an unaccustomed amount of persistent snow.
And so it goes.
