And the cat says "mer".
Feb. 2nd, 2018 02:51 pmMore snow. Cusp of melting, so more heavy snow. Conventional remarks of displeasure here.
Our cat, Chucko, is quite a chatty fellow. If you put a hand down to pet him, he says "mer" to the first touch. If you are filling a dish and taking too long, he will say "mer" every time you look at him. Now that we have an outside, and a leash for the cat, and he knows that he is allowed out on a leash, he goes to the door and says "mer" a lot. Sometimes, if we are especially obtuse, the "mer" escalates into full-throated sobbing cries for succor - or at least somebody with thumbs.
It's too cold out for the old dude, though. (We estimate he is sixteen, and while still limber and active, an indoor cat, so accustomed to steady warmth, and no matter how energetically he fluffs his fur, the pink toes are never covered.) But he wants out.
Currently he doesn't leave the covered deck, because everything is either deeper than the tip of his tail straight up, or wet, or dripping. But he asks to have out often every day, standing at the door and saying "mer".
We think he might be trying to say "summer".
