So we had snow. About 4 inches of fluffy dry white stuff. There was a lull where people cleaned their driveways, and now it is sifting down again. Small dry snow, but steady. There was just a brief whirl of wind that was so localized it didn't even stir my multiple wind chimes, but there was swirling snow and snow falling off trees to join the swirl and more swirl. Wow.

I wish now to say that I am grateful for furnaces. I am grateful for plywood and glass and caulking and nails. I am grateful for spindles and weaving and plumbing and sheet metal and, yes, pipelines. I am grateful for asphalt shingles and plumb bobs and extruded foam weather stripping. I am grateful for kettles and tea pots. I'm grateful for smelting.

I'm grateful for all the nameless people over the last 50,000 years or so who kept tinkering with the things they had so I am not afraid of the winter and I am warm and dry and fed.
