Nobody can procrastinate like me.

I have been hemming two pairs of trousers for the last six months.
I hate sewing. I do it just fine, but I really hate it: it's so fiddly and fussy, and for that much effort the results don't last nearly long enough.[1] I had started treating myself to having my trousers hemmed for me. Sometimes it cost more than the trousers (I'm a great believer in sales), but the lack of aggravation was so nice that I felt it was worth it. And then ... (portentious music) ... a pair came back with legs quite obviously not the same length. Hah, I said, *I* can do uneven hems on my own. Which is where things have been for about the last 18 months. I now have six pairs of trousers that need to be hemmed (I'm way too short - I could just sew the legs closed at the bottom and not need socks).
However, I have grimly stuck to my conviction that I can make my own mess, thank you, and have had the trousers out in the living room, near the table for the last six months. Any minute now; you just watch. Hah.
So, I cleared the table off for family meals during the parental visit (SOGP & I don't eat at the table - or even very often at the same time), and so it is bare of plants and clutter and stuff. Any minute now I am going to dig out the sewing machine. I have already placed a pair of well-hemmed trousers out there for length, and now I just need to dig out the ironing board and iron - *and* find my sewing box with all the pins and proper fabric shears and ... argh ... I hate sewing.
My first day at the new employer starts tomorrow. This is a good a distraction as any - and I might just hem a trouser or two. It could happen.
[1] - I have a simple popover dress that I made in about 1994 or so, and I'm really peeved that I can't wear it out in public anymore. Huh.
