A little bit of bah humbug.

We made it out to SOGP's Mom's house yesterday for Christmas Dinner, and it was very nice, and it was very nice to see her and SOGP's brother. We had flaming Christmas Pudding with Lemon Sauce - and that was terrific. I keep meaning to learn how to do this because all her children are boys and boys were not taught these skills in the 40's & 50's, but October is often a very busy time.
But the weather and conditions are revolting. I wouldn't live in Surrey if someone gave me a mansion and promised to pay the taxes and maintenance and utilities for perpetuity (& that includes snow shovelling and lawn mowing and window cleaning and dish washing and toilet scrubbing[1] and ...).
None of the sidewalks are plowed/shovelled out there, and the snow is knee-deep on a tall person, and the snowplows have been by and shoved all the street snow up against the non-plowed sidewalk, and it has now frozen in crunchy unreliable heaps. People (including people with baby carriages) are walking down the street because there are no options. And the SUV drivers are as cranky and stupid as ever.
And we're getting more snow.
It was supposed to be rain, which would have washed some of the crap away and made it easier to deal with the rest, but it is more snow.
[1] - & I really hate toilet scrubbing.
