Short Hair.

On Wednesday I got a hair cut.  It has been so hot and muggy and my hair is so fluffy that - now that it has been too short to pull back into a pony for a couple years - I can't stand it.  I nearly asked my hair dresser to shave my head, but he always resists my more extreme suggestions.  But it is short now.  I haven't had hair this short since I was six.  When I was six, it was against my will and done by a neighbour who cut her boys' hair.  (This is prior to the summer of love .)  It was not a success then, and I went on to have hair down my back for most of my life (never *quite* made it to my waist).  I cut it above the shoulder when I turned 50, as my birthday present to me.  In Vancouver there is quite a large remnant hippie population, and I can see that long flowing grey hair is less appealing from the outside than it feels like from inside.

This is AMAZING!  I don't quite know how to style it yet, but I am having fun trying various goops.

My hair is not quite as short as my Mom's - but pretty close.  My mom and I are only 18 years apart, and we look very much like sisters these days.  Oh well.  Eventually we're gonna both look like Grama, so we might as well get used to it.  :)

I feel a little silly flipping my hair back without the hair.  :)

PS - since I cut my hair very short, the sky has clouded over and given us blessed relief from the heat.  No rain, but much cooler.  Typical, eh?  :)
