Lather rinse repeat. There's way too much high octane emotional scenery chewing for way too little payoff.

I realized last week that at the end of the episode, after I've spent 8 hours (ish, never forget the commercials) with these people, that when someone was injured to the point we don't know whether they are going to live or die - I didn't know who they were. They could have been male or female, but I just didn't know based on the name alone.

C'mon people who are writing/filming/etc-ing the show - if you want me to invest in the show, you need to spend enough time on a character that may be sacrificed that I will care whether they live or die - or at least notice they are missing. I'm sure something very erudite is going on with examining narrative assumptions and questioning storytelling tropes, but - c'mon.

And why, for frickin' sake can't they just dial the ship from Earth? They got there by dialing the ship from a stationary base on a planet. They now know the address for dialing. Earth has ooooooodles of power for this. Deal with this or accept that your airship disbelief has not achieved hover.

Didn't they say the only place they had access to enough power was on that planet, which blew up?

Well, that just doesn't make sense. There is no way the ship, then, will ever have power enough. [sound of teeth grinding]

Not neccesarily - that just means that Earth doesn't know of a way yet. I suspect they won't find a way for quite a while though, since the point of the show is that its about a bunch of people lost in space...

Bunch of *cranky* people lost in space. :)

How are you enjoying the show? I'm quite cranky (bet you couldn't tell), because I want to like it more than I do.

Um...I dunno. I'm not hating as much as other people seem to. I think it's a bit over the top melodramatic, the characters are mostly still too flat to really be engaging and creating drama by having people not talk to each other has always been a pet hate of mine. But I'm enjoying it enough to keep going for at least a while more to see if it grows into itself.
