Day two: dye *all* the fabrics.
Jul. 12th, 2012 05:55 pmSo, I am still mostly enjoying the class, but I think it is not meant for a beginner like me.
We have done stamping with dye on white fabric, and we have done painting dye on the whole fabric, and I think the plan is later to then dye the stamped fabric and stamp the dyed fabric. I have decided I am not going to mess about learning about how to dye wool yarn, since I think stuffing any more in this soon will make the first stuff fall out the ear on the other side.
Each of the fabric process have things that need to be done - scouring with wizard-quality detergent and sluicing with soda ash solution - and then either tinkered with dry or damp and then left to dry or wrapped in plastic wrap so that it will stay damp and then ironed or not ironed and washed or not washed .... and I really can't remember which is which.
Our instructor is a skilled artist, with an encyclopedic mastery of the information, but no clue how to share that information with a beginner.
Or in other words - I think it is pointless to talk about thinking outside the box if there isn't a box.
:)
Just a little tired today. :)
