So. It got very very cold and everything creaked. The snow was fluffy. Then it got really (for local winter) warm and everything dripped. And the snow glopped. And now it is cold enough that everything crunches. My driveway is slush that was then rained on with freezing rain and has now frozen into rotten crumbly yuck. My snow clearing guy came by, gave it up, and smoothed it off then covered everything in salt and sand. It is still pretty dangerous underfoot.

I did get my garbage and composting to the curb, but creeping over the salty sandy crumbly ice gives me the scary monsters.

I've been wanting to buy one of these for my cane:

I will probably need to order it from the above - but then I need to know the diameter of my cane end. I find that out every time I replace the rubber end - and then forget again. Why isn't it circumference? I can measure circumference with any one of several common household items - but diameter? Hah.

I am, also, a leeeetle worried about the ankle-slashing capabilities of the device. The good thing is that the pointy thing, which grips the ice, can be swung up easily so that one is not gouging the floors of the stores one goes to. But then it is points out. This makes me very anxious because, when I first started using a cane, I hit *everybody* with it, whether I wanted to or not. Social distancing has really saved a lot of people.

And it's not even January, *sob*.
