It's really smoky.
Aug. 18th, 2018 10:44 amI know I spent a lot of the winter moaning about snow. Normally I would also moan about heat, but we have AC, and we live up a hill, so the nights cool off enough for sleeping. Therefore, if we run the AC from about 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm to keep it at 25, and then open up, the house cools off quite nicely for sleeping. We are also surrounded by trees, so there is much shade in the afternoon when the temperature usually peaks. So, while it might be hot sometimes, we aren't suffering.
But lately we haven't had to run the AC because the smoke is so thick it is reducing the heat of the day by about 5 C. Usually it is around 30 in the afternoon this time of year, and it has been having trouble reaching 25 through the smoke.
It is so bad that last night we had to close the house at 8:00 pm and run the fan of the furnace to run the air through the filter to remove the smoke. Today has been very dark. There is a haze been us and the neighbour's house across the road. It smells like campfire outside.
