So we travelled again. With my back, and the height of the bed, I had a really difficult time sleeping. I doubt we will travel again soon. My Mom might, but she's not really happy about solo travelling. She tried a bus tour earlier in the summer, and that was not a good idea. Mom is a whim person - all our Okanagan drives below grew out of whims. It's lovely, but plans are anathema.

While travelling we did go to nostalgic places. I grew up and graduated in Penticton. We started in a teeny weeny cinder block house in OK Falls. My grandparents lived in Osoyoos for a while. We drove all over, including the back roads, and while there is much change and development, the beauty is still there. We did enjoy the driving around.

It took me a few days to recover my lost sleep. Lost sleep translates into really bad knee pain and swollen ankles and blah blah blah.

Then I had my fourth COVID booster, which also contributed to achy knees and general blah.

And now I have the start of a cold. I think my system is just so run down from a summer of being sick that I am prey to any old bug wandering around. Yay.

I am also feeling dreary because the light is waning day by day. Months and months of dark and cold. My snow clearing person doesn't snow clear anymore, so I am in pursuit of a new person. Even before the post-pandemic labour shortages, services like this were thin on the ground in Salmon Arm because the only housing built here for the last 40 years is acreages for Calgary holidayers. There is nothing to rent - and I mean nothing. People who would be happy to clear snow (or work retail, or wait tables, or care for the elderly) can't find a place to live. Bah.
