We can has cat sitter. *whew*
Apr. 12th, 2008 10:47 amWhen we used to live in little towns, in run down little shacks, we used to just leave a window open and a big pile of food and a bucket of water out and let the cats look after themselves while we were gone. We never go for more than two or three nights, so it worked pretty well. Then we lived on the freeeeeeezing prairies, and while that worked in the summer, it was no good in the winter - especially when we were travelling for a week altogether. So I had my first adventure in finding someone to cat sit. Argh. I did it, but then she moved away.
Since we've been here, there hasn't been anyone I trusted who lived close enough to be able to cat sit. But I finally thought of a woman in this very building who might be willing, and I asked her, and she is! Yay! I don't know why I didn't think of her before. We're not planning to go anywhere anytime soon, but I know we'll go out to Tappen this summer, so yay! the cats will be fine.
Cat sitting is always very complicated. It can't be someone who isn't willing to spend half an hour being sat on by a mostly-white cat who leaves an millimeter thick layer of cat hair on their clothing. It can't be someone who will be offended that Sammie is just too frightened & hides. It has to be someone who is willing to cater to their different food preferences. It has to be someone who has the judgement to tell if the aberrant behaviour needs immediate vet attention or can wait.
This is a big weight off my mind.
