We were expecting Tuesday to be the peak, but it looks like now that Wednesday wishes to do a Bobbsey Twin.

Also, the heat is tightening its grip earlier and earlier in the day. Previously I closed the house around 2:00 pm in the afternoon. Yesterday was noon, and today was 10:00 am.

It did pop up briefly a couple times to 43C, but it was mostly 42C.

It is currently 40C, and the sky has a slight haze, which means the heat will get sealed in for the night, and we'll start the day hotter earlier. Huzzah.

I was tempted to keep the house closed, but the girls were really insistent that outdoors needs supervising. Constant monitoring overnight, in fact.

So yesterday I opened at 9:00 pm, when it was 30C. I'd kept the house at 28, and the outdoors went down long before the inside temperature even budged. It was still 24 when I closed up today at 10:00 am.

I kept the house at 26 today (actually 79F because there is something psychological about allowing the house to get into the 80s [1]), and opened up when it was 30 outside, which was at 10:00 pm. Warm steamy (ew) air still streamed in. [2] The house has crept up to 27C, and the outdoors has dropped to 27C.

Tomorrow is still predicted to be beastly:

[1] - I have this perception with 2:00 o'clock and 2:30. 2:00 is early afternoon, 2:30 is late.
[2] - there are lakes here, which evaporate, but which don't provide any moisture on the ground.
