Busy past couple weeks not done yet

During the week before this one, I worked extra hours and prepared for the arrival of my parents. I keep a more or less filthy house, so it was a bit of a scramble to get it livable for company. This past week my hours changed under short notice, my parents visted, my department had a team-building retreat, and I went to the fourth of my eight screenwriting classes. This Sunday (tomorrow) we go to my mom in law's house to celebrate my SOGP's older brother's birthday. Each and every thing was/is a fun[1] thing to do, but the clumpage has contributed to general poopedness.
My parents brought out a few things from my Grandmother's house, which they have held for me since her death, and I am glad to have the items. They also helped us recycle some old computer stuff[2], and transported some cast-off books and clothing to the thrift store. It is so excellent to have those things gone. We are nowhere near uncluttered yet, but we are closer. Yay.
So, now we just need to do all of our grocery/laundry/lounging around/resting tasks today, and we'll be ready for the all day trip to mom in law's house tomorrow. We also need a gift and have no clue.
[1] - okay, except for bathroom cleaning
[2] - these have been very hard to let go - the first harddrive & monitor set originally cost one tenth of our combined post-tax yearly salaries. Never regretted spending the money, but it makes it hard to discard them.

Uncluttering
Date: 2008-06-08 03:41 pm (UTC)I will try to get inspired by your example.
If my house fell down, we could build walls of books and live comfortably therein.
*sigh*
I can't see well enough to mind the dust myself, but I gather it's fierce. I like to think it makes the wine bottles look classy. Ha!
Re: Uncluttering
Date: 2008-06-09 05:27 am (UTC)Just to console you: not all my books are on bookshelves, yet. Ha: "yet." I think the chance of all my books all fitting on shelves at one time is something that one is allowed to say "never" about.
