You know, this digestive malarky is just so much ... malarky.  Huh.

Last night I played a rousing game of bellyache, followed by maybe-I'll-ralph-maybe-I-won't, followed by intermittent and periodic projectile ralphing.  YUCK.

This seems to be in response to raw vegetables.  No, SOGP is fine, so not food poisoning.  This was confirmation because last week, with the same type of raw veggies, it was the express trip right through the system, do not stop for any reason, especially not digestive juices.  Nur.

I'm getting tired of finding new foods I can't eat.  No raw fruit.  No raw nuts.  No dairy (milk, cheese, yoghurt, sour cream, etc).  Now no raw vegetables.   Sometimes no eggs.

You know what I can eat without aaaaaany problems at all?  Chocolate.  Chips.  Crackers.  Cookies.  Cake.  Bread. Toast.  Noooodles.  Rice.  Potatoes.  Banananananananas (bleah, no really, after 30 years of just bananas, bleah).  French Fries.  White Spot's Sweet Potato French Fries (with the hickory dip? YUM).

Anyways.

I did not have a fun evening, and I am not amused by the idea of needing to blanch my vegetables for veggies and dip.  Bah.

Ginger ale is your friend, though.

With the "no dairy", is that possibly because you are lactose intolerant? My partner is and we use alternative products for (almost[1]) everything now.

Soya based cream works fine in cooking, Sunflower oil based spread on bread, also goat milk and goat butter, which don't contain lactose, are fine and very tasty.

When it seems inevitable that she will have to eat something containing dairy products (like dining out), she takes a Lactase Enzyme pill, which enables her to digest the lactose with few, or no, ill effects. These are widely available in health food shops.

Not being able to eat raw veggies is a major downer though :-(

[1] I still eat cheese. I love a good, mature Cheddar and Brie too.

Yes, lactose intolerant. Butter okay; skim milk absolutely the worst idea ever. So, the higher the fat content, the more of it I can tolerate. I don't cook much with milk/cream anymore. If I want a creamy sauce, I will simply melt a bit of cream cheese into whatever it is. I don't do that very often. Also, lately cheese's binding properties have come to the fore, and so I don't eat much of that now either. Bummer. :)

No raw fruit.

I know someone else who can't eat raw fruit, but they've recently found they can have Innocent Smoothies (and presumably similar products) because those are heated enough as part of the preparation to get rid of whatever it is that causes the problem. Might be wrth a try for you - sounds like you could use the vitamins :-(

Yes, someone told me it was the proteins in the fruit, which is why cooking the fruit solves the problem - it changes the shape of the protein. I can still have blueberries and strawberries and raspberries. But no apricots (my favorite). Once a year, when they come out and are luscious and nummy and sooooo fragrant, I can have one, maybe two if they are small. I'm not that crazy about cooked fruit - but stewed rhubarb is the best. :)
