So I mentioned that I had done a lot of online ordering in that no-go zone between Christmas and Epiphany. I pick up my last thing yesterday - books ordered to the local bookshop.

Because a lot of the things I ordered were obscure (eg: academic book directly from Yale), this was not an exercise in immediate gratification. Nothing arrived earlier than two weeks after the order was placed.

One of the most fun was Royal Wax Seals (https://royalwaxseals.com/), because yes, I am again 12 and want to seal my letters with a selected for me mass produced stamp in wax. They have a beautiful selection of double happiness, which I am still tempted by, but the other thing that I am most happy with is an ink stamp with my current address on it. I love stamps (okay, I'm really 5), and while I haven't had an opportunity to put it on an envelope yet, I have stamped a number of other things with glee.

Royal Wax Seals has the best online tracking system. 5/5 would use again. :)

The one I was most impatient for was The Rotten Fruit Box (https://therottenfruitbox.com/) because freeze dried is so much different from standard dried, which I am not that crazy about (sticky bits in the teeth). Having received the product now, I would like to say YUM. There is no sugar added, and the pieces have the real flavour of real fruit, but almost the texture and melting behaviour of sugar sponge. Mmmmmm.

They took forever to get here. I ordered them on 02 Jan, and they arrived on 25 Jan. Their tracking system was not as informative, but I did (later in the wait) discover that they had a link to Canada Post's tracking, which was a little more informative. They came all the way from Portugal, which is rather exotic for here. The product is expensive for me to order often, but I think they would make a great gift for someone who has every damn thing (and likes fruit).

I did order something before Christmas, and it was amazingly speedy. Pemberton Distillery (https://www.pembertondistillery.com/). Pemberton is near Whistler in BC and uses local stuff - even local aromatics for their gin. I ordered a whisky and a gin. Mom and I have only tried the whisky yet, and while it isn't quite a glenlivet, it is very nice. We haven't tried the gin yet, but I will keep you posted.

Now, please excuse me while I go stamp things. :)
