We spent five days, had blissful weather, and it simply wasn't enough.

Below is Penticton BC from the South, overlooking Skaha Lake.  The white edge to the sky is normal for the Okanagan, and in this case is smoke from the fires in Washington State to the south.

Pine Cones - what's not to love.  Ponderosa Pine Cone, fresh from the tree.  On a public picnic table at a viewpoint pullout on highway 97.

This one is fresh from the tree - it still has the pointy thing that attached it to the tree, and the pointy thing is still sticky.

It looks lovely there - I especially like that in the second picture, the pine cone is echoing the shape of the tree in the one above it. Very pleasing to my strange brain :)

I think that's one of the fascinations of the Ponderosa Pine cone - they look like little trees. In arts and crafty Christmas dioramas, they are often used as miniature trees - baby Jesus and the pointy pointy trees. :)
